Hi Sushanta Ghosh This might be due to irregular irrigation. (Heavy rain or irrigation after a long dry spell).

This may occur due to varietal characters, soil management, inappropriate levels of water at maturity stage, light, temperature and micro-nutrient deficiency (calcium deficiency).

Yes it is irrigation abnormalities,irrigate as per crop requirement usually in melon crop at earlier stage water requirement low, at flowering and fruit development stages required more,at maturity stage requirement low .Need to know the water requirement in heavy and light soil,Cell wall development Calcium and Cell division Boron are the key elements consider them as twin sister s So keep priority towards to these nutrients.

Sushanta Ghosh I plant watermelon regularly from 14 years The same problem occurred in a starting days The solution to this problem is nutrients defeciency more likely boron and calcium nitrate U have to take a spray and fertigation through drip
