Dr. V Pandey This is not any significant symptom of red rot disease in sugarcane. Red rot disease in sugarcane is outwardly visible as drying off the tips and internal redding of tissues in internodes with characteristic white structures seperated by red tissues. Pls ck in my picture below.

Sali please see the growth stage of plant and try to magnify the puschules in the plant. Your doubt will be cleared. If not satisfied at all please uproot on of the plant to see the symptoms of red rot in the lower most part. I am pretty confident that will match with pic you uploaded. Dr. V Pandey I was Deputy Manzger ( Extension, Seed Inspection and Credit), and then Farm Manager in Sugar Mill Farms for 16 yrs, so I've long experience in MHAT for Red Rot Treatment in Sugarcane. Without Internal view of internode, it’s difficult to confirn the diagnosis. So, I requested Dr. V Pandey from my practical experience to study the internal redding of tissues.

Dr. V Pandey Furthermore, if these are water suckers in a matured standing Sugarcane field, these should eventually be not susceptible to Red Rot disease. In this picture, the suspected tillers look like water suckers.

Sali I have no doubt on your experience and expertise. However, my concern was to further confirm as a Plant pathologist with equally experience like you. Further your pic are cases of advanced/ severe infection stage, sometimes which are not visible in early stage of infection development. If you think it's not this then please also tell what is this melody....with your expert opinion as a Plant physiologist ? Anyway thanks Your comments

Dr. V Pandey I should say, this is not any serious issue or symptom with these tillers, we can ask the user Rashid Khan about his planting date of this plot. If it is ratoon plot, there’s is change of Red Rot and Wilt disease to occur. Sometimes, Root Stock Borer is a cause for stunting growth like these tillers.

Dr. V Pandey During this growth stage a symptom may occur in Sugarcane field, pls ck as in my picture. Let's ask him if user Rashid Khan find any symptom like it. This type of symptom should be addressed, because it may cause economic loss. Can you pls diagnose it? I'm asking because it's a most common indicative symptom in Sugarcane field.

Absolutely Sali symptoms of this disease may significantly differ in different environmental conditions also. I have no reason to say that this is root borer insect. Anyway thanks for sharing your experience

Do you mean Sugarcane Root Borer? Do you know it is predominantly called as Sugarcane Root Stock Borer?
