Care
Timely picking of cucumber is important for best quality fruit. Dig in plenty of well rotted organic matter such as compost before planting. Use supports such as trellis if you're growing cucumbers upwards. Set plants at about 45 cm apart. Cucumbers should be harvested while they are still small and tender.
Soil
Sandy loam soil that is rich in organic matter, with good drainage, and a pH range from 6.5-7.5 are ideal for cucumber cultivation. Make sure the soil contains organic matter by adding organic compost or any farm yard manure for higher yield.
Climate
This crop requires a moderate warm temperature, ideally between 20°C and 26°C. Excess humidity promotes diseases like powdery mildew and downy mildew. Frost conditions are not suitable.
