Root and Foot Rot - Tomato

Tomato Tomato

K

Does anyone know what might be the problem with this tomato?

It is a "Paul Robeson" heirloom and it has developed light green colored bumps on the main stems and some leaves are selling a "burnt" look and are shriveling up. It has been getting consistent water and other tomatoes nearby are growing well. See the pictures for the look of the affected leaves and stems.

Hello Kodiak, Bumps could be resultant to support attract atmospheric moisture and air, because the root of this plant might have been out of order to function normal physiological process like nutrients absorption and translocation in upward direction. I'm supposed to diagnose after reviewing if there's anything like Root and Foot Rot of this plant. Due to shortage of water and nutrients the plant might has started bumping to withstand the stress.😊😊

Hi Kodiak i think it's pith necrosis (Pseudomonas corrugat).

Thank you Samira Ghouil سميرة غويل for your diagnosis. The plant does not yet have the dark streaking on the stem as shown in your picture, but that may develop. Unfortunately, it looks like there is no countermeasure for pith necrosis or tomato canker which was the other disease I thought it might be.

Thank you Sali for your thoughts. The tomato has had consistent water from times drip irrigation and organic fertilizer and gets a foliar spray of brewed worm compost tea so I don't think is is stressed due to a lack of water or nutrients.

Kodiak Sali Bumps on stem : This is very usual symptom of developing advantageous roots on stem due to prolonged contact of stem with soil or growing media. In many cases such primordia develops due to excess moisture. Please check and avoid much moisture in root zone. Symptoms of mold on leaves might be due to botrytis and it is also very frequently observed in humid environment.
