Any effective biological method for treatment of Mango Anthracnose?

I have this Mango plant in my garden. Every year it bears good amount of flowers in the flowering season but then it gets attacked by fungus and flowers rot(like shown in the picture). Is there any effective biological treatment available for this attack? And what is the timing of application of that method ( should be used just before flowering or after flowering or in winters when there are no flowers for the next 3-4 months)?

Seems like it is affected by Mango floral malformation.

I just searched that and yes it seems like the disease. Can you please tell me the biological control for this? Thanks in advance.

Sir, i don't know much about the biological control. But I can tell you that this disease can't be cured if once occurred. But for temporary fruit development can be induced and malformation can be reduced by spraying plant growth regulators like NAA (Planofix) 100ppm during October.

It occurs mostly for Mango Hoppers Hoppers should be trapped by sex pheromone. When the fruits become gram size, a treatment by Cypermethrin can help protect the Hopper's as well. Thank you for your interests in Plantix Community!

Sir, as pointed by Vipul Gowda sir, its Floral malformation of mango and not Anthracnose. Please throw some light on the control measures for Floral malformation of mango. Thanks.

arun sharma, you do consider Sali sir's recommendation. Did you notice any sugary fluid like substance on affected twigs which also may turned blackish sooty growth. If you find this symptoms it may also be Mango Hoppers .

Vipul Gowda Sali Sir there is no fluid like substance when the attack occurs. I believe its floral malformation as the symptoms match to a great extend.

The individual flowers effected in full Mango bunch and turning into black in colour and drop out. So I confirmed, it seems me like effect of Anthracnose.

Hello vipul and arum, Floral malformation should be something like these pics.

Hi Suresh, Anthracnose has different pattern that moves from affected leaves to panicle stalk.

Hi Arun, You can read below few details. SYMPTOMS: The malformation of mango has two distinct types i.e. vegetative and floral. Vegetative malformation is also called as bunchy top. It is characterised by disrupting of apical growth resulting in several small flushes with quite short internodes at the apical ends of various branches. It may appear even in nursery stages on the main stem of the plants. These shoots bear small leafy structures appearing as if a crowded unhealthy and ugly looking mass. Hope that it helps 😂

Yes sir you are true. Here we don't have leaf images to confirm. Let's we can ask him to send, leaf images also to make it clear.

Sali sir additional to something like Anthracnose, there are also shortening of nodes. I could find similar pictures searching on google as well. Does shortening of nodes occurs in Anthracnose as well?

additionally the leaves doesn't seem to be affected at all.

Sali Suresh Gollar Sir, leaves doesn't seem to be affected at all. I had this picture taken some 5-6 months back when the tree was flowering. Unfortunately I dont have pictures of shortened nodes now. Most of the flowers blackened but 4-5 fruits matured and were without any disease. Now, its off season and I was wondering if I could apply some control measures for the next season.

Sali Sir, these unhealthy crowded mass like structure were there similar to one in the picture. And I couldn't find any good solution for this disease as well.

Hi Arun, I practically produced huge mango successfully in my commercial farms few yrs back. So far I can remember, I took few special cares for a plant about 16-16 yrs of age that was of good variety called Surjapuri. I gave 4 irrigations by Rainer: before flowering 1 irrigation and I washed whole canopy, that is leaves and brunches. I treated with Cypermethrin before flowering to minimize hoppers population. Similarly I applied 3 irrigations after full flowering was over at 10 days intervals. That was sprinkler system. There was a ginger plantation beneath the tree. I fertilized only for ginger and applied an irrigation before flowering of mango. That was flood irrigation. As a result, there was plenty of flowers. After pollination huge fruits set on though nearly 50 percent dropped off. But I was not worried, because a mango plant has a capacity to bear certain amount of fruits. Excess of fruits will drop off, it's a natural phenomenon. I applied another split of Cypermethrin when the fruits attained gram like in size. There was no infestation of powdery mildew or Anthracnose as I washed the canopy 3 times. I got about 1000 kg production from that plant and most mangoes were of best quality. I know, it's too difficult for many farmers to manage Rainer, however it can be done partially by foot machine. Hope that this Case Study helps you!😂
