Magnesium Deficiency - Bean

Bean Bean

Bean fungus? Not sure.

I have some Roma Improved Italian bush beans growing in a 28.5 gallon sub irrigated planter. I'm not sure whether this is a fungus, heat related, or a water problem. They produced a lot of small beans but they aren't getting any bigger. Suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the input. Is the fungus caused by the leaves getting wet?

Nice question for the disease to occur environmental conditions are crucial, some fungal prefer warm and humid condition for the spore to germinate and cause infection which later is expressed by symptoms.

but mostly bacteria prefer wetness due to their structure

Interesting. I live in the desert where we get temperatures between 85f and 100f daily. Sometimes I water the plants and spray the leaves. So it sounds like spraying leaves in the hot weather could be part of the problem. I also lived in the Midwest US for a while and never had this problem, and I did spray leaves with water regularly.

Bean Common Mosaic Virus, or Chocolate Spot of Broad Bean Would you please review in plantix library for above hyperlinks? It may help in comparing with your bean leaves symptoms. If not getting best resemblance, Please have a look then on Magnesium Deficiency because the extreme stages of this deficiency results in leaf necrotic appearance from the leaf periphery. Hope that it helps 😄
